Ever since the Jugenpark Contests in Cologne are a thing of the past and the Carhartt Contest kind of slowed down, there has been a (huge) lack of Flatland happenings inbetween the north and the south of Germany. While everyone has to start somewhere, four guys from Frankfurt decided to spice things up a little and organized the first WizzardswithFlattitude Contest.

With the enormous help of the Youth Support organization Bornheim, the locals Jens, Manu and Robert succeeded in laying out a 15 x 7 meter sized wooden floor in the old factory building by the name Naxos Hall, located directly downtown Frankfurt. In order to gain recognition for their love for Flatland a date for a contest was set, sponsors were confirmed and most importantly many riders announced themselves. Amongst the fourty of them were such rulers as Sebastian Pospischl, Matti Röse, Daniel Hennig, Michael Husser, Sven Steinbach, Thomas Hirschl, Ali Barjesteh, Krapule and Daniel Fuhrmann for example with many more to follow.

The letter of them was the revelation of the weekend and unleashed a complete new bag of tricks consisting of many switchfooted rolled tricks into regular footed switched ones, while throwing in some opposite stances for good measure. Unfortunately this madman had to leave early to catch his train, but he impressed everyone nonetheless and proved that he´s more than worthy of the Freedombmx covershot and his interview -check it out! Moreover Seppl seazed to amaze everyone with his difficult, yet fluent rolling style and new tricks like Karl kruiser Kickflip into Halfpacker or new variations of Yanmars most difficult tricks. Also done more than good was Matti Röse, who is constantly expanding his combos into more complex levels. La bagage high tech was in full effect, represented by Dan Hennig and Sven Steinbach and busted crazy new moves. as well as consistent flows, which left Lance Armstrong in awe even.

After the jam everyone went to the famous local bar called IMA where a crazy party was initiated, while watching some new DVDs. After that everyone headed to the next party at the Lola which was accompanied by nice electronic sounds, nice ladies and best vibes! Everyone was partyin till the early morn and was way beyond the norm as they performed, which left some uncapable of riding the contest! As the wicked walk amongst us Michael Husser and Krapule were some of them, which was a real pity, because both of them don´t give a damn about trends and would have enriched the contest to say the least! Furthermore Frank DizzyLizzy Lowcash and Geraldo Kid-L weren´t up to their fitness either, which left us wondering if there´s even anyone left participating?!

One shouldn´t count on Benny Grossjohann in such situations, but this good fellow from Bonn proved everyone wrong and spinned the fastest Cliffhangers and demonstrated the longest and most flowing backwheel combo this hall might ever see! His homie Thomas Amann rode a similar flavor and showed body varials on the back until his pegs were significantly narrower -Mello Shit represintin`!. From the same region emerged a young lad, who goes by the name of Waldemar Fatkin. Haven´t heard of him yet? You sure will. Crossfooted hiker jugglers and crazy pedal steamroller links like switchfooted ones jumped into regulars made enough jaws drop to never forget, brakeless nonetheless! Even more Rene Bick from cologne made an appearance and showed Around the worlds on the front wheel into all directions as well as no footed peg wheelies resting his chest on the crossbar à la Chase. This earned him even the IMA special style award, voilà! But even so, the locals Jens and Manu knew how to impress and showed us many pumping flows, many KK switches and lots of Hikerflips, which left Manu in first, Benny second and Waldemar 3rd.

Sebastian won the Pro Contest with hard rolling combos and a very original style, while Dan got second with endless bar switch steamroller- and Nosewheelie/Pinkycombos. Matti busted as usual with crossfooted hiker-g-turns and infinite control. The final was held in a jam format and had therefor a chillaxed atmosphere. Supported by the Elustrous Mcs Andy Zeiss and Flo de Neufville and smooth sounds by Djs Heroin and Oli none got stressed out and cheered for each other as it is supposed to be. Support the artform!
